About Monica Miklas
I am a creative producer, educator, and community organizer with experience in theatre, cultural institutions, classical music, and dance, and a specialization in immersive performance. I make my home in Los Angeles, California.
Over the last decade, I've produced dozens of events and programs across the Southland for organizations like Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Invertigo Dance Theatre, comedy ensemble Lost Moon Radio, and my own immersive theatre outfit, Capital W. Capital W’s work has been called “pure gold” (Bill Raden, LA Weekly) and an “enthralling embodiment of ‘all the world’s a stage’” (Steven Leigh Morris, LA Weekly). I’m invested in training producers to think holistically and creatively about live events; my teaching has taken me to Seattle and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
I'm a founding board member of the League of Experiential and Immersive Artists (LEIA), an industry group for immersive creators and producers. I co-lead LEIA’s outreach team, bringing the immersive community together to learn and collaborate.
Backing up my experience are an MBA/MFA in Theatre Management from CSULB, and BA in Sociology from Stanford. I'm an alumna of Arts for LA’s Activate program, representing Los Angeles City Council District 1.
In my other life, I am an aerial performer, performing around LA on silks, hammock, and trapeze.
